Eltham Palace Art Deco Wedding Stationery Suite

A while ago we were given the fabulous brief of designing a bespoke Art Deco stationery suite for a lovely couple who were getting married at the absolutely stunning venue, Eltham Palace.  WBD met Adam & Rebecca when they approached our stand at The National Wedding Show in 2013.  They were both performers on stage in London's West End and wanted a bespoke design creating to complement the Art Deco decor of Eltham Palace.  Their wedding was inspired by a 1920's, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers style.  Well, today, we have discovered that the entire wedding has been featured on Love My Dress and it doesn't disappoint!  Looking at the photos, you could imagine stepping back in time to the glamour of the era.  Everything has been beautifully coordinated; it's so wonderful when we actually get to see our designs in their final place.

Designing this Art Deco wedding stationery was so much fun and Adam and Rebecca were a pleasure to work with.

Wendy Bell Designs specialises in unusual, quirky, design briefs, so if you have something special that you would like designing for your wedding stationery, please get in touch to see how we can help you!  Lacking some inspiration?  Here are some examples of the bespoke designs that we have done for other clients.

Twilight Themed Order of Service

Recently, you were introduced to the lovely Clare & Kevin in the form of an incredible testimonial. They approached WBD when we exhibited at the National Wedding Show in February 2013 and explained that they were having a “Twilight” themed wedding…not the kind of twilight that includes vampires and blood sucking though! Initially, they were only after a semi-bespoke twilight themed Trifold Order of Service which was created using cascading stars in plums, pinks and blues with a hint of gold. They loved the result so much that Clare and Kevin then asked WBD if we could create a bespoke Ibiza themed seating plan using a map of Ibiza and including the green pedalo that they got engaged on.

When we get given these briefs from clients it can sometimes seem peculiar as we have no context as to how it all coordinates in its final place, so when Clare emailed across a handful of photos from their wedding it was lovely to see how it all worked together…

When this absolutely amazing testimonial arrived via email, we were unbelievably bowled over in the WBD studio.  It's not every day that a client takes the time to sit and compose such a lovely email to express their gratitude.  As a company/designer, it is usually assumed that no news is good news when it comes to supplying clients with their finished products which is why it's so rewarding when you get such amazing feedback.  Clare and Kevin are such a lovely couple and truly were a pleasure to work with.

"I first met Wendy at one of the big London wedding fairs back in spring of this year {2013}. Obviously there were a lot of stationery stands at this fair, but Wendy stuck in my mind as soon as I walked away from her, and continued to as I met and mentally rejected the others. She didn't recoil in horror when I said that the theme of our wedding was "twilight", rather, she waited patiently while I explained that what I meant by that was not the books (look at my wedding pictures, I'm the opposite of goth/vampire) but rather that magical time in the evening when it's just getting dark, the stars are coming out and butterflies (might) be flitting around!
She then went on to suggest some ideas for a semi-bespoke order of service based on changing the format of one she had done previously to match the star theme that I wanted (this also helped it stay within my budget). I have to say, above everyone else that I met that day, Wendy seemed to care and want to listen and work with our ideas and that's what made her stick in my mind over everyone else (and actually she was the only one that followed me up after the show!).

It was an easy decision to choose Wendy quite quickly once we got home from the wedding fair, and she got on with designing our beautiful orders of service! We were so happy with them when we got them, and they fitted the theme of the day perfectly. The fact is that Wendy just "gets it". She took my suggestions for the vision on board and managed to create something even better than I was picturing in my head.

Due to this, we decided to ask Wendy to design our table plan as well. We'd first toyed with this when we met Wendy but had decided back then to do it ourselves, but as the day got closer and we realised just how talented Wendy is, we thought, she'll do a far far better job than we could even try to! She had some great suggestions for adapting one that she had done for a previous couple - again showing that she understood what we were going for. Based on a terribly drawn rough plan by me and some colour ideas, Wendy blew us out the water again! She created a table plan far more beautiful than we could have imagined and added a few of her own suggestions to make it even better. It was based on an Ibiza theme and the tables were named after places we visited in Ibiza on the holiday when we got engaged; she even managed to incorporate the green pedalo boat on which we got engaged into the table plan in a tasteful way - it was FABULOUS! It really fitted in with the theme of the day and we had so many compliments on the stationery that Wendy had designed for us!

Wendy was on hand right up to the week of the wedding when parcel force decided they couldn't find my parent's house, and the service didn't stop until she knew we had our stationery and were nothing short of 100% pleased with it.

Thank you Wendy for helping to make wedding planning that little bit easier for us - I think the smile on mine and my husband's faces goes to show just how perfect a wedding we feel that we had and the perfect start to a long and happy marriage together."

Clare Blaydon, married on 28th September 2013.

At the end of 2012, we brought you a beautiful real wedding that we had worked on for a couple who got married at The Roof Gardens. We created all of their wedding stationery, from their initial invitations, to their on-the-day stationery, which included a seating plan, table names, personalised guest menus and favour tags for cookies. Everything was colour coordinated and was flamingo themed to complement the venue.

Today, we discovered that this wedding has been featured on B.Loved Blog with so many more beautiful photos from the wonderful Anushé Low. So pop on over yourself to take a peek and you may even get a little inspiration for your own wedding!

Real Wedding: The Roof Gardens, Kensington High Street

Oh wow I love a Roof Gardens wedding!  I know I’m biased as I myself got married there, but if you have ever stepped foot in those amazing gardens above Kensington High Street you will understand what I mean when I describe them as a magical place.

Carole and Adrian, a.k.a the newly wed Mr and Mrs Pharoah, contacted me earlier this year after having booked their wedding at the Roof Gardens.  We worked together to create their whole range of wedding stationery, from the invitations, and personalised menus, through to the table plan and favour tags.

Carole and Adrian were an absolute delight to work with and I was so touched when I was sent an email just before their wedding with these words:

“Just wanted to say how amazing you have been. Not just the quality of your fabulous designs but also how responsive and brilliant you are to deal with.   You have made everything really easy for us and I will be recommending you to everyone I know!” – Carole Baldwin (now Mrs Pharaoh!) 27th June 2012

The first glimpse I had of how it all looked together was when I was creating their thank you cards and Carole sent me some of their photographs to use.

Wow, they did a beautiful job of putting everything together and their award winning photographer, Anushé Low, captured the whole day beautifully.  Her photos are just stunning; so clean, modern and fresh – just up my street!  After having begged Anushé to let me show off her gorgeous images, I asked Carole if she would offer a little insight to their their engagement and the wedding.  So, without further ado, I shall leave you with Carole’s comments and these stunning photos for you to drool over…remember, this venue is in the centre of London on top of a roof – can you believe it?!

How did Adrian propose?

Down on one knee on the beach during Sandance New Years Eve party at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai earlier this year. We will be on honeymoon in Australia celebrating in Sydney for this New Years Eve – what a crazy, amazing year!

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

All of it!  Seeing each other for the first time, the ceremony was really special and intimate, the speeches and meal – just to see all our friends and family together laughing and enjoying themselves was brilliant.

Is there anything you would change?  If so, why?

The weather – even though we had the 1 dry day in weeks of rain, more sunshine would have been great!

Do you have any advice for future brides/grooms?

It can be as simple or as complicated as you make it – we planned the whole thing in 4 months and the day was perfect for us.

We loved all the things that made it really personal to us – writing our own vows, childhood memories for readings, a friend doing our flowers, table names with descriptors of our special moments, sparkling wine from the family vineyard.

Can you give a list of suppliers that you would recommend?
